When I was in college, the phrase “ring by spring” was common. We all laughed about it, but attending a small Christian college in Ohio, it seemed true. Everyone seemed to be engaged by spring and married before graduating from college. No joke!

Many are still laughing about the “Ring By Spring” TikTok trend, but Hulu‘s upcoming dating show, “Ring by Spring Break,” takes this desire to find “the one” to a whole other level. Dropping single Christian college students into Cabo during their Spring break, finding the love of their life doesn’t just become a dream, but a deadline.

Produced by Jimmy Fox and Emily Bon with Sam Dean as show runner, the streaming service was inspired by “Love Overboard,” “The Bachelorette,” “Are You My First,” “Love Island USA,” and “Love Is Blind.” As a bundle with Hulu and Disney, the series will stream on both platforms to subscribers in the U.S.

According to Relevant Magazine, the show will follow a group of single Christian college students as "faith battles temptations in paradise," and they try to determine if they will "leave engaged or graduate alone."

At the intersection of entertainment and desire is a real struggle that many college singles face: the pressure to be in a relationship, get married, and have kids as quickly as possible. Instead of seeing dating as a trial or “let’s see where this goes,” it becomes “please declare your intentions before sophomore year chapel.”
