Pro-Life Film ‘Lifemark’ Vaults into Netflix's Global Top 10, Claims No. 1 in Multiple Countries

A pro-life faith-based movie has ascended into Netflix’s global Top 10 list and has soared to No. 1 in multiple countries, proving that “God is not finished” with the film, some two years after its box office release, its producers say. Lifemark (PG-13) was No. 8 among English films worldwide for the week ending April 28 and was in the Top 5 in roughly a dozen Latin American countries, including No. 1 in Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay. It was No. 2 in Guatemala and Ecuador, No. 3 in Brazil, Peru, Chile and Mexico, and No. 4 in Colombia and Honduras. It’s known as “Marca de Vida” in those countries and tallied 3.5 million views worldview for the week. 

Lifemark entered Netflix’s global Top 10 even though it’s not on Netflix platforms in the United States. In that country, it’s streaming on Great American Pure Flix, although it can be rented or purchased on other VOD platforms. The film follows the story of a teenage boy whose birth mother reaches out to him on his 18th birthday. Eventually, he travels to meet her while accompanied by his adoptive parents. Kendrick Brothers, the same company that made Overcomer and War Room, made Lifemark. The company’s next film, The Forge, will be released in theaters Aug. 23.

Legendary faith-based filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick produced it, while Kevin Peeples (Like Arrows) directed it. It stars Kirk Cameron as the adoptive father and Raphael Ruggero in the lead role of the teen boy, David.

Stephen Kendrick described it as an “inspirational family-friendly movie” that promotes the “value of life in the womb.” It includes life-affirming messages about adoption and abortion.

“We're hoping it will not only save a lot of lives, but we're hoping that it will inspire a lot of believers to support adoption in their local communities, whether they adopt a child [or] whether they support other friends that are adopting,” Stephen Kendrick told Crosswalk Headlines. “We've got some friends that God led them to adopt [but] they could not afford it at all. But believers surrounded them, and started giving and supporting them, and just beautifully came alongside them, and provided what they needed.”
