You may be thinking, wait, aren’t we supposed to make our spouses happy in marriage? Yes, and no. First off, you can’t “make someone happy.” There are days when you wake up and are having a bad day, and nothing is going to change that. A circumstance in life may drastically change something for the worse, and sometimes you can’t change that perspective.Still, although we aren’t supposed to make each other miserable, focusing only on our spouses’ happiness won’t lead to a happy union either.
Let’s remember to be patient with our spouses if they don’t jump up and down in excitement right away. If it is God’s plan, He will enlighten them in His timing.
We need to learn to appreciate our spouse better. With marriage comes the responsibility to maintain a home and family together. Sometimes, the ways we contribute to this calling can look vastly different.

Prayer helps us look away from our own mistakes and trust God, who created marriage in the first place. Through prayer, we find the power to stay close when life tries to pull us apart.
There is a massive catalog of ways in which God has shown up and confirmed that He has everything under control. These three lessons are perhaps the biggest things I’ve learned along the way.
Our society has a lot to say about gender roles, and often it feels at odds with what the Bible says. But is it manly for Christians to drink beer, watch sports, and act domineering? Together, we'll look at five incredible ways the Bible defines manhood.
If our hearts are right with the Lord, we see that being a helpmate is not the issue; both the man’s and the woman’s perspective has been problematic. Sin has crept into the relationship and into the ways we view God’s perfect design for relationships.
We see that God’s perfect design for humanity is man and woman, living together as one flesh in two separate bodies, tending and caring for God’s garden, all in obedience to and relationship with the Lord. It’s a commentary on marriage, on relationship, and on the holy work we are all tasked to do.
