“I hope the Lord takes me first, before her,” Marie says. "How am I going to feel when she dies?”

“I’ll tell you,” Kay answers. “I’ll have peace,” she says with a laugh.

The sisters have quite a sense of humor and love to joke around, but underneath it all, you can see the love they have for one another.

The 98-Year-Old Twins Live Right Down the Hall From One Another

The twins live right down the hall from each other at a 55+ and older residence in Grunthal, Manitoba, Canada. For their 98th birthday, they even got a shout-out, a standing ovation, and a certificate at the Manitoba Legislature. What a tremendous honor and memorable moment for them.

The sisters grew up on a family farm near New Bothwell with 10 siblings. They both eventually got married and had kids, and life took them on different paths for a while. Marie took over the family farm with her husband, and Kay sold flowers and volunteered at church.

Now, both are widows and get to do life side by side once again. The two have been living close like this for more than 20 years.

Life Is Full of Joy and Fun

“Life is full of joy and fun if you make it,” Marie says. And what a positive outlook on life. Enjoying the big and the small things.

While conventional wisdom tells you the secret to a long life is eating right and exercising, Marie shares, “I never did eat healthy, never.” Over their long years, they have found joy in the little and big things, like their families.

“Someday we will go, ya,” Marie says. "We all have to go, but I guess God isn’t finished with us yet.”

What a Blessing to Celebrate So Many Birthdays

Although Marie is going through cancer treatment, both sisters say they feel great physically and are still sharp mentally. What a blessing to the sisters and their families.
