There are moments in life when we look back and grieve the version of ourselves we used to be—whether that’s who we were physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. Maybe you had more energy, fewer health problems, clearer goals, or a lighter heart. In tonight’s prayer and devotional, we’re reminded that our identity isn’t found in the version of us that once was—but in the new creation God is shaping day by day. Amber vulnerably shares how chronic illness and physical limitations challenged her identity, but ultimately deepened her trust in God’s redemptive work. Her story is a powerful reflection of 2 Corinthians 5:17, which promises: “If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation.” God’s work in us doesn’t stop when life gets hard. It intensifies. His grace meets us not just in our strength, but especially in our weakness. 📖 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) 📖 “Though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16 📖 “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6 If you’ve ever longed for a past version of yourself—or wondered if you’ll ever feel like “you” again—tonight’s reflection offers comfort, truth, and a prayer for hope that renews. Dear Jesus, Sometimes I really miss who I used to be. I long for the strength, joy, or clarity I once had. But You remind me that I am a new creation—not stuck in who I was or lost in who I’m becoming. Thank You for renewing me, shaping me, and holding my worth steady even when everything else feels fragile. I surrender the grief of my past self and trust that You’re forming something beautiful in me today. In Your name, Amen.
