Election day.

The 6th Congressional district may be small in size but it has become a new political battleground for both the left and right. After President Trump appointed Congressman Tom Price as his Health and Human Services Secretary, a special election was called to fill the congressman's empty seat.

The district leans conservative but many see the race as a referendum on the president's young administration. Many celebrities, who watched as Hillary Clinton was defeated by Donald Trump in November, have focused their attention on this special election.

As RollCall.com reported, "Eighteen candidates are running in the April 18 open primary to fill the seat... If none of the candidates receives more than 50 percent of the vote, the top-two finishers, regardless of party, will advance to a June 20 runoff." The article reported that many Democrats have coalesced around Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old candidate who raised more than 8 million dollars in the first quarter of this year with "95 percent of his donations came from out of state, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which reviewed his first quarter filing."

Politico.com reported on some of the celebrities supporting Ossoff's bid. The list includes John Leguizamo and Alyssa Milano. Politico also noted that Rosie O' Donnell has donated to Ossoff's campaign and Samuel L. Jackson recorded "a new radio ad aired in the district by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee."

Many predict that Ossoff will win a plurality of the vote tonight (Republicans, who have 11 candidates on the ballot, aren't nearly as united as the Democrats) but it remains to be seen if that plurality is enough to hit the 50% mark that would prevent an additional vote.
