(The Center Square) – The Colorado legislature has passed a bill that funds Medicaid reimbursements for Planned Parenthood and others who provide reproductive health care services, including abortions.

The Colorado House voted 43-19 Sunday in favor of Senate Bill 25B-2, following the Senate’s approval Friday.

The bill now goes to Democratic Gov. Jared Polis for his signature.

The Democratic majorities in the two houses support the bill. Republicans oppose it because of its approximately $4.4 million cost for the current fiscal year, a number cited by the nonpartisan Legislative Council Staff

SB 25B-2 directs the state Department of Health Care Policy and Financing to use money from the state's General Fund to provide Medicaid reimbursements to entities that are denied money from the federal government.

The bill is a response to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which cut federal funding of Medicaid reimbursements for reproductive health care providers such as Planned Parenthood.

Th Colorado legislation was essential to protecting Coloradans’ right to care, said Jack Teter, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains’ vice president of government affairs, in a statement.
