Boulder homicide suspect dies in confrontation with police

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — A man suspected of killing his wife died after falling from the top of a parking structure following a standoff with Boulder police.

The woman, whose name hasn't been released, called police Friday afternoon to report the man had left her home with two children, ages 6 and 12, and was possibly armed with a gun. Officers who went to the home found the woman dead, and the man was found later at the parking structure with the children inside a vehicle.

Police say they tried to negotiate with the suspect for "a prolonged period of time" and at some point one or more officers opened fire. It's unclear if the man was shot before he fell from the parking structure.

Investigators haven't released the man's name or details about what prompted the shooting. The children weren't injured.
