FBI Director Kash Patel says federal officials have arrested multiple people in Michigan who had allegedly been plotting a violent attack over the Halloween weekend. Patel announced the arrests in a social media post, saying they took place Friday morning. FBI and state police were in a neighborhood near Fordson High School in Dearborn. FBI personnel were seen going in and out of a house. An FBI spokesperson says investigators were also in Inkster, another suburb. Michigan's governor says she was briefed by the FBI director but shared no details.

Military leaders have directed every state to establish a “quick reaction force” — units trained to respond to civil disturbances and riots on short notice. The plan, led by Maj. Gen. Ronald Burkett, calls for roughly 23,000 Guard members nationwide to receive specialized training in crowd control tactics, including the use of batons, body shields, and non-lethal weapons. The directive follows an executive order President Trump signed in August expanding the military’s authority to support state and local efforts to address illegal immigration and violent crime inside the U.S. Under the plan, all state-based quick reaction forces must be fully operational by Jan. 1, 2026.

The filing, which sought prison time for a man arrested with guns and ammunition near former President Barack Obama’s home, described the 2021 crowd of Trump supporters who breached the Capitol as a “mob of rioters.” Shortly after the document was filed, officials locked the prosecutors out of their government devices and informed them they were being put on leave, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss personnel issues. The Justice Department has not publicly commented on the disciplinary actions or on why the references to Jan. 6 were removed.
