A Prayer for the One Whose Life Feels Empty and Unfruitful

There are seasons when life can feel painfully empty. Dreams seem distant, prayers feel unanswered, and hope slowly fades beneath disappointment and exhaustion.

Yet throughout Scripture, God repeatedly brings life into barren places.

In 1 Samuel, Hannah experienced deep sorrow and hopelessness as she longed for a child. While others misunderstood her pain, God saw every tear she cried. He listened to her prayers and faithfully brought new life into what once felt impossible.

Today’s prayer is a reminder that God still works in broken and empty places. Even when nothing appears to be growing, He may already be preparing new life beneath the surface.

Scripture

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.” — 1 Samuel 1:27

Prayer

Lord, there are areas of my life that feel empty, hopeless, and unfruitful. Sometimes I struggle to believe anything beautiful can grow again. But today, I choose to trust You. Speak life into the broken places of my heart and remind me that You are still working, even when I cannot yet see it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
